Creating your GuidedNarratives account is simple and secure:
- Download the app from the App Store
- Open the app and tap "Sign Up"
- Enter your email address and create a secure password
- Verify your email through the confirmation link sent to your inbox
- Complete the brief wellness assessment to personalize your experience
Your account includes end-to-end encryption to keep your mental health data completely private and secure.
Absolutely. Your privacy and security are our top priorities:
- End-to-end encryption: All your journal entries, mood data, and personal information are encrypted
- No data selling: We never sell, share, or monetize your personal data
- HIPAA compliance: Our security standards meet healthcare privacy requirements
- Local storage option: Sensitive data can be stored locally on your device

You can delete all your data at any time through the app settings.
If you've forgotten your password:
- On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"
- Enter the email address associated with your account
- Check your email for a password reset link
- Click the link and create a new secure password
- Return to the app and log in with your new password
For security, password reset links expire after 24 hours. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or try again.
Yes! GuidedNarratives works offline for most core features:
- Journal writing: Create and edit entries offline - they'll sync when you reconnect
- Mood tracking: Log your emotions and moods without internet
- Therapy exercises: Access downloaded therapy tracks offline
- Soundscapes: Play downloaded calming sounds without internet
Features that require internet: AI insights, data sync between devices, and downloading new content.
Journaling
The free version of GuidedNarratives includes:
- 25 journal entries - perfect for getting started with your wellness journey
- Basic mood tracking - log and view your daily emotions
- 1 therapy track - introduction to mindfulness exercises
- 1 calming soundscape - nature sounds for relaxation
When you're ready for unlimited journaling and all premium features, you can upgrade to a paid plan starting at $6.99/month.
Adding photos to your journal entries helps capture moments and emotions:
- Create a new journal entry or edit an existing one
- Tap the camera icon in the toolbar
- Choose "Take Photo" to capture a new image or "Choose from Library"
- Select your photo and it will be added to your entry
- You can add multiple photos per entry and rearrange them by dragging
All photos are encrypted and stored securely. This feature is available with premium plans.
Yes! Voice notes are a powerful way to capture your thoughts and emotions in the moment:
- In any journal entry, tap the microphone icon
- Hold down the record button and speak your thoughts
- Release to stop recording, or tap and hold again to continue
- Listen to your recording and re-record if needed
- Save your entry with the voice note attached
Voice notes can be up to 10 minutes long and are fully encrypted. This premium feature helps you express yourself when typing isn't enough.
You can export your journal data in multiple formats:
- Go to Settings > Data & Privacy
- Tap "Export My Data"
- Choose your export format:
- PDF: Formatted journal with photos (great for printing)
- Text: Plain text version of all entries
- JSON: Complete data export with metadata
- Select date range or export all entries
- Your export will be emailed to your registered email address
Exports include mood data, photos, and voice notes. Processing may take a few minutes for large archives.

Yes! Soundscapes are designed to play in the background while you use other features:
- While journaling: Sounds continue playing as you write
- During therapy exercises: Combine soundscapes with guided sessions
- Outside the app: Sounds continue when you switch to other apps
- With screen off: Perfect for meditation or sleep
Use the mini player controls to adjust volume or change sounds without interrupting your activity.
Volume controls are available in multiple places:
- Main soundscape screen: Use the volume slider for precise control
- Mini player: Quick volume buttons when sounds are playing in background
- Device controls: Use your phone's volume buttons
- Settings: Set default volume levels for different soundscapes
You can also enable fade-in and fade-out effects for smoother transitions when starting or stopping soundscapes.
Yes, once downloaded, all soundscapes play offline:
- Soundscapes download automatically when you first play them
- Downloaded sounds are stored on your device for offline use
- Check download status in Settings > Storage
- Free up space by removing unused soundscapes
Each soundscape is approximately 10-15 MB. The free "Gentle Rain" soundscape is pre-downloaded with the app.

Yes, you can cancel anytime through the App Store:
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap your Apple ID at the top
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Find GuidedNarratives and tap it
- Tap "Cancel Subscription"
Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You'll keep premium features until then, and your data remains safe even after cancellation.
Your subscription follows your Apple ID across devices:
- Install GuidedNarratives on your new device
- Sign in with the same Apple ID used for your subscription
- Open the app and go to Settings > Subscription
- Tap "Restore Purchases"
- Your premium features should activate immediately
If you're having trouble, make sure you're signed in with the correct Apple ID and have a stable internet connection.
New users get a 7-day free trial of all premium features:

You won't be charged during the trial period. You can cancel anytime before the trial ends to avoid charges. The trial is available for each Apple ID once.
All payments are processed securely through the App Store, which accepts:

Technical Issues
If GuidedNarratives is crashing, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Force close and reopen: Double-tap the home button, swipe up on GuidedNarratives, then reopen the app
- Restart your device: Turn your iPhone off and back on
- Update the app: Check the App Store for updates
- Update iOS: Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- Free up storage: Ensure you have at least 1GB of available space
- Reinstall the app: Delete and reinstall (your data is safe in the cloud)
If crashes persist, please report the issue through Settings > Help & Feedback. Include what you were doing when the crash occurred.
If your journal entries and data aren't syncing:
- Check internet connection: Ensure both devices have stable WiFi or cellular
- Sign in to the same account: Verify you're using the same email on both devices
- Force sync: Pull down on the main screen to refresh data
- Update the app: Make sure both devices have the latest version
- Sign out and back in: This refreshes your account connection
Sync usually happens automatically within a few minutes. Large entries with photos or voice notes may take longer on slower connections.
If you're having trouble logging in:
- Check your email and password: Make sure there are no typos
- Try password reset: Tap "Forgot Password?" on the login screen
- Check your internet: Ensure you have a stable connection
- Update the app: Older versions may have login issues
- Clear app cache: Delete and reinstall if problems persist
If you're still having trouble, check that you're using the correct email address. Your data is safe and we can help you recover your account.
If therapy audio or soundscapes aren't working:
- Check device volume: Use volume buttons to increase sound
- Check silent mode: Ensure your phone isn't on silent/vibrate
- Try with headphones: This helps isolate speaker issues
- Check app permissions: Go to Settings > GuidedNarratives and enable all audio permissions
- Restart the app: Close and reopen GuidedNarratives
- Re-download audio: Delete and re-download problematic tracks
For voice note playback issues, try recording a new test note to see if the problem is with recording or playback.
