This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the SleepyStars mobile application ("SleepyStars" or "the App"). By using SleepyStars, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Important: SleepyStars is designed for use by children under parental supervision. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verified parental consent. All accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians.
Information We Collect
Parent Account Information
When a parent creates an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name
- Date of account creation
- Authentication credentials (securely hashed)
Child Profile Information
For each child profile created by a parent, we collect:
- Child's first name or nickname (no last name required)
- Age range (for age-appropriate content)
- Avatar and customization preferences
Important: We minimize data collection for children. We do not collect last names, photos, precise birthdates, location data, or any information that could identify a child outside the app.
Usage Data
To provide the app experience, we store:
- Bedtime routine task completions
- Stars earned and spent
- Virtual pet status and progress
- Routine streak data
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to SleepyStars Premium, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never have access to your payment card details, billing address, or other financial information.
Analytics
We collect anonymized, aggregated analytics to improve the app:
- Features used and frequency
- App crashes and error reports
- Device type and operating system version
This data is aggregated and anonymized and cannot be used to identify any individual user or child.

- Access controls limiting data access to essential personnel only
Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's information. We do not display advertising in the app. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Firebase (data storage), Apple (payments) - bound by strict data protection agreements
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request
- Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public
Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review: View all information collected about your child's profile
- Delete: Remove your child's profile and all associated data at any time
- Refuse: Decline further collection of your child's information
- Update: Correct any inaccurate information

Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove all personal data and child profile data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
